General
What is GreyOut?
GreyOut is an anonymous social platform built exclusively for verified college students. It's a space where you can share thoughts, rant about exams, and connect with peers without the pressure of a real name or profile picture.
Who can join?
You must be 18 years or older and currently enrolled in a recognised college or university in India. You will need a valid college ID to verify your student status.
Anonymity & Safety
Is GreyOut really 100% anonymous?
Yes. Your real name, email, and college ID are completely separated from your app activity. Other users will only ever see your randomly generated alias. However, anonymity is not a shield for illegal activity—in cases of severe policy violations or court orders, we retain the technical ability to trace an account back to its creator.
What happens to my College ID after I upload it?
Your ID is reviewed by our team to confirm your student status, and then it is permanently deleted within 30 days. It is never stored on your public profile or shared with anyone.
What should I do if someone is harassing me?
Every post and message has a report button. If someone makes you uncomfortable, you can instantly block them and report their content. Our moderation team reviews reports within 24 hours.
App Spaces
What is "Vent Out"?
Vent Out is a dedicated space for mental health and peer support. It connects you 1:1 with an anonymous peer listener where you can talk about academic pressure, loneliness, or just let out a rant in a safe, judgment-free zone.
How does "The Atrium" work?
The Atrium is our interest-based matching feature. It connects you with verified students from your college (or other colleges, based on your settings) who share similar vibes. It costs a few Grey Credits to start a match.
Can anyone join my College Space?
No. College Spaces are geofenced and locked. Only students who have been verified with an ID from that specific institution can access the inside threads.
Grey Credits
How do I earn Grey Credits?
You earn credits organically by interacting with the app. Posting on the feed, maintaining a daily login streak, receiving reactions, and inviting friends will all boost your wallet balance.
What can I do with them?
Credits can be used inside the app to initiate Atrium matches or open Vent Out sessions. In the future, you will also be able to redeem them for real-world student discounts (like food and digital subscriptions).
